Colloidal iZVI Overview

Colloidal iZVI™ is a colloidal (5 µm) injectable zero valent iron (iZVI) amendment developed to remediate chlorinated solvents (CVOCs) in soil and groundwater. It can also be applied to select heavy metals and other contaminants, and is part of the Cascade Chemistries line of in situ groundwater remediation amendments designed to support faster, more cost-effective site closure.

Why It Matters

Many remediation programs succeed or fail based on distribution and sustained contaminant contact. Colloidal iZVI is formulated to disperse broadly at low injection pressures, helping address back diffusion and improve performance where consistent contact and residence time are critical.

What You’ll Learn in the Brochure

  • What Colloidal iZVI is and what it treats, including CVOCs and heavy metals such as hexavalent chromium, arsenic, and selenium

  • How it works in the subsurface, including reductive dechlorination for solvents and chemical reduction for metals upon ZVI contact

  • Key advantages for distribution and field use, including low-pressure injection, rapid dispersion, minimized daylighting risk, and flexible dilution up to 80:1

  • How Cascade supports successful applications with turnkey solutions, including MiHPT-driven high resolution design optimization and dosing/injection parameter support (bench-scale and field optimization available)
