Project Highlight: ColloidalChem™ and ZVI Injection Mitigates CVOC Plume Migration

Cascade Chemistries

At a former dry cleaner site, CVOC impacts from PCE and TCE were migrating beyond the source area and into an adjacent property, increasing the risk of further plume expansion. The client needed a proactive solution to control migration and reduce concentrations without disruption to the surrounding commercial setting.

Working within a 25-day field schedule, Cascade implemented an integrated injection approach that included:

  • Combined Injection Remedy – Application of ColloidalChem™, Colloidal iZVI™, bioaugmentation culture, and an oxygen scavenger to address dissolved and sorbed contaminants and support long-term treatment.
  • Targeted Plume Control – Installation of injections across the source area and two downgradient permeable reactive barriers to manage plume migration and reduce offsite risk.
  • Adaptive Field Execution – Transition from injection wells to direct push technology in response to silty sand conditions, ensuring effective amendment distribution and full implementation of the design.
